STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus teaches His disciples about stewardship when He says, “Well done, good and faithful steward, you were faithful in small things, I will put you in charge of greater things. Enter into the joy of your Master.”

A Christian Steward is someone who receives God’s gifts gratefully, develops them with responsibility and accountability, shares them generously with others, and returns them to the Lord with increase.

The Stewardship Council at the Parish of Christ the King is composed of parishioner volunteers who recommend and enact productive plans for the effective implementation of Christian Stewardship as an expression of discipleship. The council's purpose is to use their personal commitment and love for the parish to develop and carry out the principles of stewardship so that all parishioners are inspired to witness their faith by promoting the work of the Gospel through their sacrificial gifts of time, talent, and treasure.

Each year, the Stewardship Council sponsors several events that enrich and encourage the faith lives of parishioners. These activities include the following:

SUMMER LEADERSHIP RETREAT

The Leadership Retreat is an opportunity for parish leaders and individuals who want to gain insight into their own faith lives to come together for a day of reflection, discernment, and planning. This one-day experience is designed to inform and challenge people to take the next step in their lives of discipleship and to advance the ministries for which they are responsible.

STEWARDSHIP RENEWAL OF "TIME, TALENT, AND TREASURE"

Each fall, the Stewardship Council conducts the parish-wide Stewardship Renewal during which parishioners are asked to make a conscious decision to give the Lord a portion of their time, talent, and treasure. This renewal is an important, decisive moment that helps parishioners realize the many ways in which they can continue to grow in their faith lives.

SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT GIFTS FOR ALL PARISHIONERS EACH CHRISTMAS AND EASTER

The Stewardship Council also cares for the spiritual needs of parishioners and visitors by providing a specific faith enrichment resource for all persons who attend Christmas or Easter Masses. In the past, this provision has included the distribution of Catholic cd’s and books.

SUMMER SPIRITUALITY SERIES

The Parish of Christ the King offers parishioners an opportunity each summer to grow in their faith through an intensive seminar conducted by outstanding leaders of national and international repute. The Stewardship Council sponsors this summer series in an effort to provide every possible resource for the faith development of parishioners.
